Selina Apostol

I'm new to comics making, though I've been writing this story aimlessly for probably three years now. Recently I attended a comic convention where an editor from DC said that if you can't summarize your story in two or three sentences, you don't have one. That was traumatic. Since then, i've been actively trying to find out what exactly my comic book is about. Miraculously I managed to find some focus and finally finished writing the first few chapters.

The art is not complete yet but I would like to show a few of the finished scenes at the "thing" and hopefully find people who would be interested in getting a copy of the first issue when it is ready.

I never managed just "two or three" sentences but the following is I think a reasonable improvement on the original 300,000 words.

More Than Human

A preacher has set up an off-planet colony dedicated to so-called sophont research. His object was to apply experimental theory to develop telepathic humans and, through telepathy unite them into a single and perfect entity. His bible: an ancient work of fiction, "More Than Human", by Theodore Sturgeon.

The research achieved mixed success. A few of the first "sophonts" claimed to be capable of the desired "gestalt" state. But for the rest life had become a nightmare, with some individuals driven mad from inability to switch off their powers, and others becoming social pariahs for being impervious - unreadable and therefore suspicious.

The book explores the naivety of a perfect superhuman vision. The story begins with Stars, born of sophont parents, and her struggle to escape to Earth.
